Biography
Maria Montserrat Alvarado came on board in the Fall of 2009 to help run the Voices Symposium Conference in Mexico City. She was elevated to her current position in 2010, and leads initiatives in development, communications, events/conference planning and administrative/financial management. Montse has a B.A. in Political Science from Florida International University and a Master’s degree from the George Washington University’s School of Political Management concentrating in Advocacy Politics, where she was selected as the graduation key note speaker for her class. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Shepherd’s Table, a homeless shelter in Silver Spring, MD and was appointed to the Montgomery County Commission for Women in July 2011. Montse is fluent in Spanish, French and Italian and is a competitive classical and jazz vocalist as well as a composer. We’ve seen her sing accompanied by mariachis, too.
