How Will the Supreme Court’s Decision Impact the HHS Mandate?

Unless the entire act is struck down, the HHS cases move forward.  Learn more here.

In the next few weeks the Supreme Court will decide the constitutionality of certain provisions of the Affordable Care Act.   How does this impact the HHS lawsuits?   The graphic above illustrates the three different scenarios.

The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty led the charge against the Administration’s unconstitutional HHS mandate.  The Becket Fund applauds the other courageous defenders who have stepped forward and filed additional suits in defense of America’s first freedom.  Today, there are 23 separate cases and 56 individual plaintiffs, representing  hospitals, universities, businesses, schools, and people all speaking with one voice to affirm the freedom of religion guaranteed in the Constitution.

Scroll over the dots to learn more about each case, and visit HHS Information Central to learn more about this unconstitutional mandate.

We need to understand what Our Lady of Fatima came to tell us in 1917, the church never teaches her children regarding this crucial visit from our Heavenly Mother. The greatest public miracle since the resurrection of Jesus, occurred in 1917 through Mary from God with some stern warnings to the world. We have ignored her requests and therefore, we reap what we sow. She did indicate that in the end, her Immaculate heart would triumph, but since it took so long to listen and obey, we have many…..many persecutions, wars, famine, hate, evil to live through until then. check out – PRAY THE ROSARY DAILY FOR WORLD PEACE!!!

AMERICA: Will you answer the call to protect LIFE, LIBERTY, FREEDOM, OF RELIGION/CONSCIENCE? TEST: “PROVE WHAT YOU SAY BY WHAT YOU DO” If a MANDATE is issued to KILL other HUMAN BEINGS, CREATED BY GOD; how can you expect or trust another human being, (dead in conscience), to protect you in turn? WOW! SIMPLE MATH. TE

This among other reasons is why Obamacare shuold be repealed!!! This law is unconstitutional for several reasons. Didn’t our ancestors come here because they wanted religious freedom? Anyone know if Obama has any spiritual beliefs? We never see him attend any religious services, nor does he participate in National Prayer Day! I don’t think America can take 4 more years of this back seat driver. Ask yourself what has he really done for America? How many days has he actually worked? What will he do for the next 4 years if re-elected when he doesn’t have to campaign. My guess is a 4 year vacation.

AMERICA WAKE UP! Too long have we set back & let evil trieve. Now, we must stand up, defend our beloved country based on Christian values. Our ACTIONS defy our BEHAVIOR. THE TEST: “PROVE what you say by WHAT you do!” If you are being duped, ask yourself WHY? PLEASE, DON’T LET THE “CHOICE” MADE 4 YEARS AGO HAPPEN AGAIN! Trusting Americans believed, trusted, gave a chance, now the EVIDENCE SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. PRAY & ACT UPON YOUR GOD GIVEN RIGHTS TO LIFE – LIBERTY – PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS, RELIGION. WARNING: Survival RULE: Diivided we fall, united we stand. Christans united will save ALL. Evil survives, we all fall. COMMON SENSE. TE

We have a centuries of historical persecution as Christians and when the Christians movement first began as “The Way” before we had formation of Church law and procedure…now, today, we still continue to preserve and protect our religious right (not just Catholic, but Christians everywhere who cherish their religious universal rights….as the Apostles and early believers did and were persecuted. We must strive to continue to honor God’s belief in “us” and move forward in confronting governments attempted impingement of our separation of church and government (whether state or national). Since the formation of our nation, God has been the cornerstone….
Prayers, active voice and presence must continue to protect God’s presence in OUR religious institutions (hospitals, clinics, missions, schools, etc.).
So, we remain UNITED in defending our religious liberties…in prayerful petition and action – whether individual or church groups or government groups. After 2000 years, we continue to believe and love our Creator God.
Blessings on all in the forefront of this challenge to religious liberty.

Its obvious that the Obama amaonistrdtiin has no regard for convictions of others including the Religious community..The policies of this amaonistrdtiin are typical of those who have an agenda aimed at the freedoms we all enjoy and have enjoyed for generations..This is another move to set up government as knowing best regardless of religion or other beliefs that the people may have and support..This amaonistrdtiin has to go and soon so we can get back to those freedoms stated in the constitution..

SusanAt least you have some options in the US. I live in Canada, a conurty where there is (for eg.) No abortion law in any of our provinces. It is sheer madness up here re. civil liberties .same-sex marriage, abortion, contraception, IVF . freedom of religion is becoming non-existant here . I pray that left-leaning, so-called progressive Catholics and other denominations, as this goes beyond Catholicism, wake up and realize what harm our silence is doing and that social justice’ for eg. begins in the womb and does not include promoting sexual irresponsibility and perversion.God Bless You. You are so naive. Catholics abandoned Rick suoaimonints Sanctorum in droves in Ohio. Catholic women vote no differently than other women on issues they care about. Having control of their own fertility decisions and having cheap access to birth control are pretty high on the list. This crazy anti-woman GOP swing will cost them in November. The bishops and priests have absolutely no business getting up in the pulpit and telling people their (incorrect) version of events.

Sheri there are many reasons for a pncrtiaicg, faithful Catholic to not want to vote for Rick Santorum. His position on war, immigration, and torture, for example, are not in keeping with the Catholic faith. Prior to the administrations attack on religious freedom, I was going to write on my ballot none of the above . Now I will have to hold my nose and voter for the not Obama candidate. As for the rest of your comment what can I say? You have bought in to the lie that the ability to have sex without consequences is a right. The bishops have every right to speak out. The have been given the authority and the duty from Jesus Christ to proclaim the Truth. Oh and Truth is revealed by God and not by opinion polls. Please follow the link in the post. Perhaps if you actually read what the bogus arguments are, you will realize that you have been sold a bill of goods. I am not naive. The so called freedom to treat sex as mere entertainment has had devastating effects on our society especially woman.

We are in such strange and trying times ! When we were children…we were taught about persecution…but it was in another time and another land.
Now it has come to our doorstep.
We have felt the sting of this Administration…so many freedoms at stake.
Providence has been with Nation since the very beginning…and is with us now. We always live with ETERNITY on our mind ….now we must be strong on the fight we did not ask for. We must get on our knees and pray for God’s help for the sake of our blessed land!!!

This is a great article! Here is anohter scary parallel: Henry VIII closed all of the monasteries, causing horrible suffering to England’s poor and sick and needy. Obama may cause the closings of our Catholic hospitals, charities, and universities. Cardinal George, of Chicago, warns, Unless the rule is halted, institutions will be forced to choose between dropping their religious identity or abandoning their work Mom

I work for a large company that takes my health insurance payment out of my pay check, I want to know what choices I have as a individual? Is there a lawsuit for individuals that pay for their own insurance, or can we refuse this affordable health? The only choice I see that I have is to cancel my health insurance.

If the entire ACA is struck down, making the religious liberty suits moot, opportunities need to be sought out to get cases before the courts where religious liberty is affected. How many of our universities and adoption agencies have caved in because something was forced on them which is against Catholic teaching. It will be good if the ACA is struck down entirely, but it will be bittersweet because these cases would likely have taken care of a good many problems.

Your first sentence is the key. Individual eleyomeps DO have a choice- they can choose not to work for an employer who does not provide the type of coverage they want. But this is a choice that many people don’t seem to acknowledge these days. If you want a job to be a right, pass a constitutional ammendment. Otherwise, I’d appreciate it if the federal government would stop dictating the terms of the employment contract I can enter into with my employer.

Beware the faux victory if the entire law is struck down–or even this particular mandate being voided by the courts, with or without the basic law itself being overturned.

The disrespect of conscience has been a growing disease worldwide and here in the US of which the current HHS mandate is but the largest-target, most-focused one here.

Most examples relate to persecution of those who refuse to provide services for activities with which they do not agree morally, be that the IVF impregnation of single women, esp lesbians; the provision of halls/banquet facilities for gay “wedding” receptions; the photographing of those “weddings” etc. All who have refused have been sued and lost even on appeal. The removal of funds from the long-finded Catholic refugee porgram because of a refusal to provide abortion services, tackles another sector of conscience reasons.

ALL of those will be ongoing and escalating EVEN IF the mandate is defeated. The war is ongoing and persons of conscience are losing for not being aware thatt hey are, in fact, in a war that transcends these details.
