Rome Conference to Celebrate 40 Years of Dignitatis Humanae

Nov 19, 2005

The Becket Fund will mark the 40th Anniversary of Dignitatis Humanae, the Second Vatican Council's declaration on religious freedom and Seamus Hasson's inspiration to found the The Becket Fund, with a five-day celebration and conference in Rome from December 6 - 11, 2005.  The activities of the week will explore religious freedom according to four themes:

  • Religious Freedom and Cinema -- Reception with Steve McEveety, producer of The Passion of the Christ, and other members of the cast and crew.
  • Religious Freedom and Persecution -- Tour of historic sites of religious persecution, including the Coliseum, the Jewish Ghetto, and the scavi under St. Peter's Basilica.
  • Religious Freedom and Fine Arts -- Private, after-hours tour of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel -- without tourists!
  • Religious Freedom and Scholarship -- Our fifth international conference, entitled "Religious Freedom and Relativism," featuring leading religious freedom scholars of various faiths.
