Miami Herald - "Battle looms over houses of worship ruling" by Amy Sherman

Hundreds of [RLUIPA] lawsuits have been filed nationwide since the federal government passed the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act in 2000, according to Eric Rassbach, an attorney with The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, a Washington, D.C., law firm that represents houses of worship.

More recently, the city of Miami initially denied a permit for Tibetan Buddhists to locate in a Coconut Grove house. The Dalai Lama sent a letter of support and the city of Miami eventually granted the permit, according to The Becket Fund.
