Background:
Angela Wu, International Law Director of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, will be a panelist in a NY UN Program entitled Global Movement Against Racism in Support of the Durban Conference Program. She will be addressing the upcoming Durban conference and issues associated with defamation of religions.
The program is being held in commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Racism. It is sponsored by the Sub-Committee for the Elimination of Racism of the Non-Governmental Organization Committee on Human Rights and the New York office of the High Commission of Human Rights. The purpose of the program is to address issues associated with the Durban Review Conference. The conference, dubbed Durban II, is to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, 20-24 April 2009, and will evaluate progress towards the goals set by the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance in Durban, South Africa, in 2001.
