Ashley Samelson, International Programs Associate, graduated from Tufts University in May 2007 with cum laude and Pi Sigma Alpha honors, majors in political science and Spanish, and an honors thesis on constitutional property rights and eminent domain.
Before coming to the Becket Fund, she worked as a legal advocate and Spanish translator for victims of domestic violence as a well as Central American immigrants seeking legal asylum. In 2006, Ashley traveled (legally) to Cuba working on a project she founded pertaining to bringing religious liberty and leadership to Cuba.
Ashley is the recipient of two Young Giver's Scholarships from The Gathering to do in situ studies in Israel and the West Bank (2008) and Rwanda and Uganda (2009). Ashely was a 2008-2009 Associate with the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation Koch Associate Program.
Ashley speaks French and Spanish. She also enjoys maps, traveling, reading fiction, blogging and writing op-eds. Her work recently appeared in the Wall Street Journal.
