Eric Kniffin received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Wheaton College (Illinois) and a Master of Arts in Theology from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He graduated from Notre Dame Law School with honors, where he was an editor of the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics & Public Policy.

After law school, Eric clerked for Judge Theresa L. Springmann in the Northern District of Indiana. Before Eric came to The Becket Fund, he was an attorney with the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division. While with the Department of Justice, Eric enforced federal civil rights statutes protecting the rights of prisoners and houses of worship, and enforced the federal fair housing act.

Since joining The Becket Fund in 2009, Eric has been active in defending the rights of religion and conscience in the workplace.
