The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty’s Tina Ramirez, Director of International and Government Relations, will participate in a conference on religious liberty titled “International Religious Freedom: An Imperative for Peace and the Common Good”. Featuring policy analysts, academics, religious and political leaders, the panels will address how U.S. policy impacts religious freedom at home and abroad.

The event is co-sponsored by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, The Catholic University of America, Catholic Relief Services. It will take place on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, 2:00 PM to 9:30 PM, at the Great Room of the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center at The Catholic University of America, 620 Michigan Ave. NE, Washington, DC 20064.

Ms. Ramirez will participate in a panel discussion on case studies of religious freedom in Nigeria, Iraq, and Cuba. Other speakers will include Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York and President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops; Dr. Jean Bethke Elshtain, Laura Spelman Rockefeller Professor of Social and Political Ethics in the Divinity School, University of Chicago; Mr. Denis McDonough, Deputy National Security Advisor; and Dr. Thomas F. Farr, Director of the Religious Freedom Project and the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs, Georgetown University.
