Becket Fund scholars have been working busily to promote religious freedom in the academic sphere. Asma Uddin has three scholarly works that are recently published or will soon be in print.

Her first article, Religious Freedom Implications of Sharia Implementation in Aceh, Indonesia, came out of a Becket Fund trip to study Sharia law in Indonesia last year and has been published in the University of St. Thomas Law Journal: Asma Uddin, Religious Freedom Implications of Sharia Implementation in Aceh, Indonesia, 7 U. St. Thomas L.J. 603 (2010).

Her next article will appear as a chapter of a book that will be published by Cambridge University Press by the end of the year. The chapter is titled The UN Defamation of Religions Resolution and Domestic Blasphemy Laws: Creating a Culture of Impunity. The book comes out of a symposium on hate speech at Cardozo Law School in May 2010.

Her third upcoming publication is an article in the Review of Faith and International Affairs titled Blasphemy Laws in Muslim-Majority Countries. Keep an eye out for it!

Congratulations Asma on your latest publications, and keep up the good work!
